Thomas is an English designer who studied 3D design at Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art. In 1994 he founded the London design institute Heatherwick Studio. He works with a team of more than 200 architects, designers and artists from a studio and workshop in King's Cross, London and in 2010 invented the Spun polyethylene swivel chair for the Italian company MAGIS
