Ofra Shalev designs and creates Judaica items and a variety of applied art products in her studio in Tel Aviv. A graduate of the Art Teachers' Seminary in Ramat Hasharon, she studied design and art at the City of London Polytechnic College.
Ofra began her artistic journey using recycled materials: jewelry from watch parts, dishes from broken glass and porcelain in an innovative technique of sculptural connection using synthetic clay. The instinctive and adventurous parts of her personality led to the line that guides her work today. It is a meeting of edges and a connection between classic and contemporary design. As part of her work with various materials, she developed a unique language that connects soft and hard, warm and cold, kitsch and elegant, thus creating a contrasting and bold aesthetic in both texture and color, and in concept. All of her products are handmade from the processing of the raw material to the final product, thus maintaining loyalty between the artist and the material.
