Fehrenbach Black Forest Cuckoo Clock Top
Since the mid-19th century, the world's most popular cuckoo clocks have been made in the Black Forest in Germany. The gears of the cuckoo clock have proven to be an excellent top. The high precision in its manufacture ensured a smooth and balanced rotation.
The owner of the company, Mr. Bernd Fehrenbach, comes from a long line of craftsmen in the Black Forest. The Fehrenbach family has been in the woodcarving business in the Black Forest for at least five generations. Johann Fehrenbach, Bernd's grandfather, was a cabinet carver and he passed this knowledge on to his son, Rudi. Rudi chose to become a woodcarver himself and received an apprenticeship in 1949. He became a master of his craft. In 1969, he decided to open a small shop in the historic town of Schönach, where he began to apply his new skills to the production of cuckoo clocks.
